Longines Ambassador of Elegance Simon Baker welcomed the 2018 Commonwealth Games Queen’s Baton in the Longines Boutique in London

As Official Partner of the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games, Longines is proud to have welcomed the Queen’s Baton in its Boutique in London. Longines Ambassador of Elegance Simon Baker accompanied the Swiss Watch Brand on this occasion. The Australian actor also took part in the Queen’s Baton Relay as Baton Bearer. The Baton carries a message to the athletes from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and is travelling through the nations of the Commonwealth until the beginning of the Games in April 2018.

On Wednesday, Longines had the pleasure to welcome the Queen’s Baton Relay of the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games in its London’s Oxford Street Boutique. On this occasion, Longines Ambassador of Elegance Simon Baker was present to celebrate the visit of this symbol of the Games, of which the upcoming edition will take place on the Australian East Coast from 4th to 15th April 2018.

The Queen’s Baton Relay began its journey in Buckingham Palace in March and carries a message to the athletes from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, which will be read out at the Opening Ceremony of the Games. The Baton is now travelling through the 71 nations or territories of the Commonwealth, covering 230’000 kilometres.

Longines Ambassador of Elegance Simon Baker and Longines Vice-President and Head of International Marketing Juan-Carlos Capelli had the honour to participate in this symbolic journey carrying the Baton in and out of the London Longines Boutique. The Queen’s Baton Relay will now continue its journey through Europe before visiting Asia.

Longines is the proud Official Partner of the Queen’s Baton Relay. The Swiss Watch Brand will also work as Official Partner for timing, scoring and results for the 2018 Commonwealth Games and will be known as the Official Timekeeper of this large multi-sport event, as well as the Partner of Athletics (Track & Field), Gymnastics, Rugby Sevens and Table Tennis.

Team USA galloped to victory at the FEI Nations Cup™ Jumping presented by Longines during the Dublin Horse Show
The 2017 edition of the Dublin Horse Show was marked by the victory of Team USA at the eighth leg of the FEI Nations Cup™ Jumping Europe Division League on Friday 11 August. As the Official Partner, Timekeeper and Watch of the Irish international show jumping competition, Longines was also associated with another highlight of the event: the Longines Grand Prix on Sunday 13 August. Werner Muff (Switzerland) riding Daimler earned first place at this prestigious prize. The spectators of the show had the opportunity to discover the Official Watch of the event, which was a lady model of The Longines Equestrian Collection, inspired by the rectangular buckle on the show bridle of the only Swiss horse breed, the Franches-Montagnes.

Longines launched its new second screen application during the Longines Grosser Preis von Berlin won by Adrie de Vries riding Dschingis Secret

On the occasion of the Longines Grosser Preis von Berlin, Longines launched its new horse racing application. Based on the Longines Positioning System technology, this innovative tool provides a live experience of horse races and real-time data. As Official Partner of this important race day, Longines timed the victory of Dschingis Secret ridden by Adrie de Vries and also honoured Bianca Prz. V. Preussen as the most elegant lady present at the racetrack with the Longines Prize for Elegance.

 

During the Longines Grosser Preis von Berlin, Longines had the pleasure to present its new second screen application, which is using the Longines Positioning System. It provides a live experience of horse races and real-time accuracy, as it produces detailed statistics about horses, such as average speed or intermediate time to tablet users.

 

This new application also allows the users to see the races on replay, providing additional data, essential to a younger audience, used to receive information anytime and anywhere. During the Longines Grosser Preis von Berlin day, Longines gave the opportunity to horse racing enthusiasts to discover and test the application in a dedicated area.

 

Longines is the Official Partner, Official Timekeeper and Official Watch of the Hoppegarten Racecourse and is proud to have lent its name to the highlight race of the day, the Longines Grosser Preis von Berlin, which saw the victory of Dschingis Secret ridden by Adrie de Vries. The winning jockey, owner and trainer received a Longines watch to honor their performance.

 

Alongside the races, the Swiss watch brand organized the Longines Prize for Elegance and honored Bianca Prz. V. Preussen as the most elegant lady present at the racetrack. Longines also presented the Official Watch of the Longines Grosser Preis von Berlin, a new variation of The Longines Master Collection, displaying a sunray blue dial. This fashionable chromatic variation is perfectly in line with the classic and understated spirit of this collection. The elegant timepiece, housing a mechanical self-winding movement, is complimented by a blue alligator watch strap.

Dal 4 al 6 agosto si è svolta al Deauville International Horse Centre la prima edizione della Longines Deauville Classic, un evento che abbina sport e lifestyle e di cui il marchio orologiero svizzero è fiero sostenitore, partner titolare e cronometrista ufficiale.
Il nome della Maison è stato inoltre associato alla Longines race, evento sportivo tenutosi il 4 agosto, che ha visto la partecipazione dei migliori atleti di corsa in piano, salto a ostacoli e polo, ed è stata vinta dalla squadra di Adeline Hécart, da Jacques Ricou e dal giocatore argentino di polo Jorge Pepa.
Domenica, Longines ha presentato una delle competizioni più importanti dell’evento, il Longines Grand Prix Région Normandie, conquistato da Alexandra Paillot e Polias de Blondel. %break%L’amazzone francese ha ricevuto in omaggio un segnatempo Longines da Juan-Carlos Capelli, Vice Presidente e Direttore del Marketing Internazionale della Maison.
