On 10 November 2018, Nayel Nassar (EGY) and his mount Lordan claimed the ninth leg Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ North American League in Thermal. American rider Eve Jobs on Venue d’Fees des Hazalles took the second place followed by Canada’s Lisa Carlsen on Parette. As the Title Partner, Official Timekeeper and Watch of the Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ North American League series, Longines was proud to grant Nayel Nassar with an elegant timepiece as a reward for his great performance.

Longines Global Champions Tour - Doha

Gathering the best international riders and horses in the world’s most beautiful cities for sixteen legs, the Longines Global Champions Tour ended in a blaze of glory in Doha. On Saturday, British rider Ben Maher on Explosion W won the weekend’s highlight competition, the Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix of Doha. In recognition of his performance, the winner Ben Maher received an elegant Longines timepiece from the hands of Charles Villoz, Vice President of Longines.

In addition, as the Qatar leg marked the end of the season, the results obtained by the riders enabled the establishment of the final 2018 overall Longines Global Champions Tour ranking. Ben Maher (Great Britain) was officially crowned winner of the 2018 Longines Global Champions Tour, while Harrie Smolders (Netherlands) and Nicola Philippaerts (Belgium) secured second and third place respectively. In order to honour their outstanding performances during this year, all three received Longines timepieces from the hands of Charles Villoz, Longines Vice President.

Furthermore, Longines is looking forward to the brand new competition - the Longines Global Champions Tour Super Grand Prix - which will be staged in the magical Czech capital Prague from Thursday 13 to Sunday 16 December, and of which Longines is the Title Partner and Official Timekeeper. Indeed, the winners of each Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix will be invited to compete in this premiere thrilling new format to decide who will come out on top of the world’s best athletes as the champion of the champions.

Last but not least, this international trial was the perfect occasion for the spectators to discover a model of the Record collection as the Official Watch of the event. Combining classic elegance and excellence, all pieces in this line are certified as “chronometers” by the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC).

Compatriot Devin Ryan on Eddie Blue arrived second followed by Canada’s All Ramsay on Hermelien vd Hooghoeve on home soil. As the Title Partner, Officail Timekeeper and Watch of the Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ North American League series, the Swiss watchmaking brand Longines was delighted to grant the winner Mclain Ward with an elegant timepiece.

As Official Partner and Official Timekeeper of Meydan and with a commitment to the equestrian arena that continues to grow stronger, Swiss watch brand Longines was proud to present a total of seven races at Meydan Rececourse in Dubai on the evening of November 8.

On this occasion, the winged hourglass brand presented the Official Watch of the event: a model from the sporty Conquest V.H.P. collection, displaying an elegant blue dial.

Longines launches The Longines Avigation Watch Type A-7 USA Limited Edition

On November 7th, in New York City, the Swiss watch brand Longines unveiled a new exclusive watch dedicated solely for the U.S. market, The Longines Avigation Watch Type A-7 USA Limited Edition.

 

Available in a limited series of 100 pieces exclusive to the United States, the Longines Avigation Watch Type A-7 illustrates the brand’s historic ties with the world of aviation, in terms of design, performance, and precision. This vintage-style chronograph draws inspiration from a 1935 model ordered by the U.S. military.

 

Press and guests attending this launch event got the chance to see this new limited-edition series presented alongside related historic Longines pieces, each with special ties to the United States, and flown in from the brand’s Museum at Saint-Imier, Switzerland for the occasion.

Un collezionista trova il più antico orologio Longines di cui si abbia notizia, una scoperta storica per il brand

Con il suo museo, la conservazione dei suoi archivi e il savoir-faire dei suoi orologiai, e ampliando le collezioni storiche, Longines desidera rendere omaggio al suo ricco passato, fonte di ispirazione per il presente. Ed è nel solco della tradizione e della conservazione del proprio retaggio che il marchio della clessidra alata porta avanti un’appassionata ricerca delle tracce dei suoi segnatempo più antichi.

 

È quindi estremamente fiero di aver scoperto di recente, grazie alle ricerche di un collezionista, il segnatempo Longines più antico di cui si abbia notizia. Il proprietario, un collezionista americano di origini giapponesi, si è recato nella sede del marchio per farlo autenticare. Grazie al numero di serie basso, 183, e alle indicazioni inscritte nei registri degli archivi, conservati con scrupolo, gli storici e gli orologiai della Maison hanno potuto certificare che questo orologio da tasca è stato realizzato nel 1867, anno in cui la fabbrica Longines prese il posto del comptoir orologiero fondato nel 1832.

 

%break%Dotato di un movimento meccanico a carica manuale, questo orologio da tasca in argento modello “savonette” è emblematico dei segnatempo creati da Longines all’epoca. Sul movimento e all’interno del coperchio è incisa una clessidra alata, simbolo del marchio fin dai suoi esordi, mentre il coperchio è ornato da un’incisione raffigurante due stemmi vuoti e un motivo floreale. Questo segnatempo, che ha sorpreso gli esperti per le sue condizioni e il perfetto funzionamento, è una scoperta importantissima per il marchio orologiero svizzero.
